MANILA --- After being launched in “Santa-Santita,” Angelica Panganiban is happy to play the young Vilma Santos in “Mano Po 3.”
“Favorite ko talaga si Ate Vi, she’s my idol, kaya playing her when she is younger in the story is truly an honor for me,” she says. “Sabi nila, bagay raw ako as the young Ate Vi dahil magkamukha kami. If that were true, I hope I can take the same career path as hers as she’s still very much active as one of the country’s most respected actresses up to now. Sayang nga, we don’t have a scene together because we’re playing the same character.
“All my scenes are shot in the 1970’s. As the young Lilia Chong, I am a student activist in love with Michael Lim, played by Carlo Aquino. But ours is an interrupted romance because he and his entire family decided to leave the country when martial law was declared in 1972. Another friend offers me a shoulder to cry on, Paul Yang, played by John Prats.
“I eventually married him and we have three kids. In the present, Carlo is played by Christopher de Leon while John is played by Jay Manalo. Their three kids are Patrick Garcia, Karylle and Angel Locsin. May lihim si Ate Vi rito. One of her kids is not Jay’s but that of Christopher. It turns out that when Michael Lim left the country, Lilia is already pregnant with their baby, kaya maintriga ang story.”
While working with ex-boyfriend Carlo Aquino in “Mano Po 3,” didn’t she feel any of her past feelings for him being rekindled anew? “No more. I was only 13 and he was l4 when we first went steady. Tumagal din ‘yung ng three years. But I’ve matured a lot since then and I’ve moved on. History na ‘yun for me.”
Even as a child actress in the early ‘90s, Angelica already impressed a lost of people as someone who is a born actress. It came as no surprise when she won best child actress awards in l995 for “Separada” and in l996 for “Sarah, Munting Prinsesa.” Now, she’s all set to conquer new heights as an actress as a grown-up. MANILA --- After her much- publicized break up with Pampanga Gov. Mark Lapid, Kris Aquino is keeping her promise to remain loveless. She just wants to focus on her career, her mom, the former President Cory Aquino and her son Joshua.
She was an ordinary mom to Joshua when he had his confession and First Communion, and Mama Kris was there with him all throughout the ceremony.
This Christmas, Kris will take Joshua and his yaya to a vacation. They will be going to Singapore where there is a water show which Kris wants Joshua to watch.
Before they return here on Jan. 2, they will go to Hongkong to accommodate the request of Joshua's yaya.
At a recent presscon for Kris and her revived game show on ABS-CBN, "Pilipinas, Game KNB?," she begged off from answering some questions, including those about her good friend Zsa Zsa Padilla and Dolphy.
Another question which Kris didn't even bother discussing was about the guesting of her best friend, John Lapus, in "Game KNB?" She also refused to divulge if John will still get his winning prize of P1,000,000.00 "Pilipinas, Game KNB?," which was launched last Nov. 15, has taken the country by storm again. And Kris is once more the country's Game Show Queen. The show is revamping the landscape of noontime programming, as it gives away millions in cash to both studio and home contestants.
There are bigger prizes at stake in this game program. Five text partners have a chance to win P10,000 daily while studio players are given the chance to win the P1 million prize.
"Four weeks pa lang kami," said Kris. "And we've given away more than P3 million."
Kris said she likes the show because it makes dreams come true.
"Pilipinas, Game KNB?" was created for those with a passion for intelligence and challenge.
The original "Game KNB?" was also hosted by Kris. (MNS)

MANILA --- Paolo Contis reveals he is no longer affected by his break-up with Nancy Castiglione. In fact, he has not seen her in two months.
He admits, however, that they still text each other. “Pangungumusta lang. We both want to maintain our friendship,” he says.
What was the cause of their break-up?
“Maraming bagay,” he admits. “We discovered, after two years of being together, that except for the fact that we both have Italian blood running in our veins, we have nothing more in common.”
Paolo cites as an example his being a homebody and Nancy’s preference for going out. Then he says he has few friends, while she has many and wants to add more to her already long list.
He has a plan to build his dream house on a lot in Quezon City, but he says Nancy has other suggestions.
“But we mutually agreed on our separation,” Paolo clarifies. “At ang masyadong naapektuhan sa aming break-up ay ang mga magulang namin, who both want us to end up with each other.”
Is there no plan of reconciliation?
“Kung ngayon ang pag-uusapan, wala talaga. But we can never tell what the future holds for us.” (MNS)
